Abstract
In the present study, we examined how risk factors [3 factors: therapist, client, and working environment] and perceived optimism have influence on the level of burnout in Korean play therapist. 143 play therapists were surveyed. The level of burnout was assessed through a hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Within each block entered, a stepwise selection was utilized to obtain the most efficient model. Step 2 involved the entry of perceived optimism into the regression model as a group of predictors for the level of burnout. The findings indicated that ©ç Optimism significantly buffers the negative impact of child & their parent¡¯s serious problems, role ambiguity, and role overload on the Emotional Exhaustions in play therapists. ©è Optimism significantly buffers the negative impact of role conflict on the Doubt about Job in play therapists. ©é Optimism significantly buffers the negative impact of child & their parent¡¯s serious problems, and therapeutic relationship on the Negative Attitude to Counseling in play therapists. ©ê Optimism does not buffer the negative impact of counseling on short-term career, role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload on the Negative Personal Relationship in play therapists. ©ë Optimism significantly buffers the negative impact of child & their parent¡¯s serious problems, and role conflict on the Symptoms of Somatization in play therapists.
